It is a life saver. Mix Fiber One with one spoon full of low fat yogurt, one helping teaspoon of CHIA, about 12 frozen blue berries and some milk .

Reasons why I eat The General Mills Fiber One Cereal

August 10, 2023

I’m still eating Fiber One Cereal at the age of 73. We were raised eating a lot of different beans of General Mills cereals as it became a habit. As a child I thought as children do(if it taste good I’ll eat it. Now that I’m growing older I’m learning more and I have included healthier foods to my way of thinking. Now I just read and noticed that this particular brand also contains bioengineered food ingredients and now I am very concerned as to what this means when it comes to my health.

Nutrition Facts

One cup (59g) of Wheat Chex, General Mills Chex’s most popular offering, paired alongside semi-skimmed milk, contains:

Fat 1g

Cholesterol 0mg

Sodium 340mg

Total Carbohydrate 51g

Dietary Fiber 8g

Total Sugars 6g

Incl. Added Sugars 6g

Protein 6g

One portion is 250 calories, including semi-skimmed milk.

Ingredients

The ingredients included in many Chex products include:

  • Whole Grain Wheat
  • Sugar
  • Salt Molasses
  • Baking Soda
  • Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Folic Acid

Each variety of cereal from General Mills Chex contains an array of ingredients on top of many of those mentioned above to create a unique taste.

Is Chex Cereal Healthy?

Chex’s Wheat variety is made from 100% whole wheat and is also known for being a source of both calcium and iron. However, it does have a high sugar content, and while not as high as many other kinds of cereal, it still shouldn’t be considered a healthy snack.

Is Chex Gluten-Free?

Eight of the ten flavors of cereal that Chex produce are 100% gluten-free.

Is Chex Cereal Vegan?

There’s quite the gray area surrounding whether or not these cereals are truly vegan. Chex products contain a large amount of sugar, for example. While many vegans are happy to eat white sugar, some do not due to its refinement.

Vitamin D3 also comes from animal products, namely the oil in sheep’s wool, and cereals from the brand contain a lot of this vitamin.

Furthermore, Honey Nut Chex contains honey which many vegans prefer to stay away from.

However, there are no dairy products in any of the brand’s varieties.

Is Chex Cereal Keto?

Unfortunately not. None of Chex’s cereals are suitable for those on a keto or other low-carb diet. In order to stay in ketosis, a daily carb limit of 20g – 30g should be observed. Chex is extremely high in net carbs, with their wheat cereal checking out at almost 73g per 100g (although a portion is smaller than this).

Is Chex High In Protein?

Chex Wholegrain has around 7g of protein per portion, meaning that it is a great source of protein for a cereal.

Is Chex High In Fiber?

Chex Wholegrain has 8g per serving, making it a high-fiber breakfast cereal. Many portions of cereal only have a fiber content of 1g per serving, so if you are in need of dietary fiber, this cereal can be a suitable breakfast option.

Chex Cereal Varieties

Chex has a great variety of different types of cereal with ten different flavors to choose from.

Rice Chex

Rice Chex is completely gluten-free. In fact, it was the very first specially made gluten-free cereal created for the general public. Besides this, they are a good source of calcium, contain no high fructose corn syrup, have 17g of whole grain within each portion, and, when served with semi-skimmed milk, are 200 calories.

Corn Chex

Corn Chex is a gluten-free cereal that is also a good source of calcium. One portion of Corn Chex has 16g of whole grain corn, zero artificial flavors, and contains 210 calories when paired with semi-skimmed – and it’s also gluten-free.

Wheat Chex

As previously mentioned, Chex’s wheat variety is the most popular breakfast cereal option from the multiple cereal options that the brand has created.

One portion has 52g of whole-grain wheat and 8g of fiber, and coupled with milk, one bowl contains 250 calories. No artificial colors and no high fructose corn syrup is contained within the cereal. However, this cereal is not gluten-free.

Chocolate Chex

Chocolate Chex is a popular option for those with a sweet tooth and a known pantry staple for those with children who want something sweet in the morning. Made from 100% genuine cocoa, a bowl of Chocolate Chex has 22% of the DVA recommended amount of daily sugar and has 220 calories (including semi-skimmed milk). It’s great for making your own Chex mix.

Apple Cinnamon Chex

Another gluten-free option is Apple Cinnamon Chex, which has 13g of whole grain fiber and 220 calories as per the serving suggestion. There is also no high fructose corn syrup in this breakfast cereal.

Peanut Butter Chex

Peanut Butter Chex contains real peanut butter and zero artificial flavors or colors. Each serving has 210 calories when milk is added, or on its own, as packaged contains 170 calories.

Please note: As it contains peanut ingredients which can cause serve allergies in some people, it’s vital that this cereal be stored appropriately, and the risk of cross-contamination should be carefully managed.

Cinnamon Chex

Cinnamon Chex provides adequate calcium for a breakfast cereal, is gluten-free, and has 13g of fiber per portion. They are also made with real cinnamon, a property that has been known to help fight inflammation while being packed with antioxidants. One bowl for breakfast will provide you with 210 calories – milk included.

Blueberry Chex

Blueberry Chex is another choice from Chex that is made from real flavors and is gluten-free. One serving is 170 calories on its own, or 210 when paired with semi-skimmed milk.

Honey Nut Chex

Honey Nut Chex is made from real honey and is gluten-free, and contains 14g of whole grain in each portion alongside no artificial colorings. One bowl of this cereal has 210 calories with milk.

Where You Can Buy Chex Cereal

Due to its popularity, you can buy the brand almost anywhere, whether online at Amazon, Walmart, or in-store.

Famous Chex Cereal Commercials

Back in 1950, Elizabeth Taylor was the face of Chex, then known as Shredded Ralston. She was promoting the film Father of The Bride, in which she starred alongside Spencer Tracy.

Advertisements for the cereal featured the characters from Charles Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip. You can watch one of them here.

Is Monster Mash Cereal Healthy?

Monster Mash is definitely one scary, delicious bowl of cereal, but is it a healthy breakfast option? Let’s take a closer look at some of the nutritional values and compare them to other options on the market.

One of the first things to consider when it comes to healthy cereals is the sugar content. With 11g of sugar in every serving, Monster Mash is not a low sugar option. With that said, Monster Mash does contain less sugar than many of its competitors. For comparison, Honey Nut Cheerios contain almost 16g of sugar in a portion of the same size.

Monster Mash also contains a fairly high amount of sodium, but it’s still within the boundaries of what is considered a “healthy” serving. Taking a look at some other options – just one cup of Grape-Nuts contains a staggering 580 mg of sodium, while Shredded Wheat has no sodium content whatsoever.

In summary, although this cereal is not advertised as a healthy breakfast option, the manufacturer has clearly attempted to keep the sugars and sodium levels to a minimum. The result is a bowl of cereal that is more healthy than many of its competitors.

Is Monster Mash Cereal Gluten-Free?

Since the cereal is made with whole wheat, it is not suitable for anyone with gluten intolerances or allergies.

Is Monster Mash Cereal Vegan?

According to the packaging, Monster Mash cereal contains gelatin, which is typically produced from pork fat. As a result, this cereal isn’t suitable for vegans.

Is Monster Mash Cereal Keto?

If you follow a low-carb or keto diet, then Monster Mash cereal probably isn’t going to be the best breakfast for you. Each serving of the cereal contains 35g of carbohydrate, which is a pretty significant amount.

Even for people not following a keto diet, a serving of Monster Mash makes up 12% of their recommended daily carb intake.

Is Monster Mash Cereal High In Protein?

Containing 2g of protein in every serving, Monster Mash contains more protein than many other breakfast cereals. We wouldn’t say it’s high in protein, though, and it’s definitely not comparable to protein-specific keto and low-carb cereals.

Is Monster Mash Cereal High In Fiber?

A serving of Monster Mash provides around 2g of fiber, which is equivalent to 8% of an adult’s recommended daily intake. Many other breakfast cereals offer more fiber than this, but 2g is a fairly reasonable amount.

If getting a good helping of fiber is important to you, then we’d point you towards cereals such as Grape-Nuts. This particular product manages to pack a whopping 7g of fiber into every bowl!

Where You Can Buy Monster Mash Cereal

This popular breakfast cereal can be found at various grocery store chains across America. General Mills is one of the largest stockists of Monster Cereals and was the first to offer the limited edition box for Halloween in 2021.

If you prefer to shop online, then you pick up the Monster Mash edition at Amazon and Instacart.

Famous Monster Mash Cereal Commercials

After 50 years on the scene, there have been plenty of iconic Monster Cereals adverts. One of the most famous ones is undoubtedly the 1978 commercial, which introduced the Franken Berry and Count Chocula characters to millions of homes across America.

Another classic is the 1989 Monster Mallow Cafe commercial, where Fruity Yummy Mummy joined the selection of flavors. The advert features the three main characters fighting to get the cafe customers to enjoy a bowl of their particular flavor.

Jumping ahead in Monster Cereal history, we come to the 1999 Scooby-Doo crossover commercial. Advertising the new Scooby-Doo edition of Count Chocula, the commercial features Shaggy and Scooby alongside the Count and his cronies.

Is Wheaties Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Wheaties is a delicious American cereal brand produced by General Mills, the manufacturer responsible for other famous breakfast cereals like Lucky Charms, Cheerios, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Originally introduced by the Washburn Crosby Company as “Washburn’s Gold Medal Wheat Flakes” in 1924, the name was dropped for “Wheaties” a year later. The story goes that Wheaties were created by accident when an accidental spill of wheat bran mixture on a hot stove occurred.

Nowadays, the Wheaties brand remains one of the biggest names in cereal across the world. Many of the world’s most famous athletes have appeared on the cover of the box and in print and TV commercials, including olympian Bruce Jenner, basketball star Michael Jordan, and golfer Tiger Woods.

One of the healthier options in the General Mills brand offerings, Wheaties is made of wheat whole grain flakes and is a low-fat cereal option targetted at athletes and health-conscious individuals.

In this article, we take a look at the nutritional information of Wheaties and whether or not they’re a healthy breakfast option.

Wheaties contain wheat and may contain almond ingredients.

Is Wheaties Cereal Healthy?

If you’re looking for a healthy cereal option to start off your day on the right foot, Wheaties is a great option.

Its whole-wheat flakes are low in sugar and calories, high in fiber, and a good source of iron (70% of your DV) which is why it’s marketed as the “breakfast of champions.” One serving of Wheaties contains 4g of fiber, which is 14% of your daily recommended intake.

The wheat bran mixture that this cereal is made of is very filling, and it makes a great base for adding fruit like bananas or berries. Doing this is a great way to add some diversity to your morning routine and improve the taste.

Wheaties also contains a variety of healthy ingredients, such as essential B vitamins and vitamin C, which are required to maintain our overall health.

It’s important to note that although it is one of the healthier cereal options, Wheaties does contain some added sugar which makes it slightly less healthy than other breakfast options.

Although Wheaties previously contained corn syrup, producers have switched this ingredient to honey, a healthier alternative. This is why it’s always a good idea to read labels before choosing the best food to eat.

Is Wheaties Cereal Gluten-Free?

As Wheaties grain flakes are made from whole grain wheat, this is not a gluten-free cereal.

Is Wheaties Vegan?

Wheaties is not considered vegan as it is fortified with vitamin D3, calcium carbonate, and pyridoxine hydrochloride. These ingredients are obtained from animal sources, so the cereal isn’t suitable for those on a strict vegan diet.

Is Wheaties Cereal Keto?

A single serving of Wheaties contains 30g of carbohydrates. This means it’s not a keto-friendly breakfast option, as the keto diet typically suggests eating between 20-30g of carbs in total each day. This means that with a single serving of Wheaties, that limit will already be reached. It also contains sugar, which is also not suitable for a keto diet.

Is Wheaties High In Protein?

A single serving of Wheaties contains 3g of protein, which is higher than many other kinds of cereal out there. Its high protein and fiber content are what makes Wheaties a true “breakfast of champions” and why the brand uses top athletes to market itself.

Is Wheaties Cereal High In Fiber?

Yes, Wheaties contain 4g of fiber per serving. This accounts for 14% of your daily values. Moreover, Wheaties is a great base for adding fiber-rich fruits like bananas, kiwis, or berries.

Where You Can Buy Wheaties

The Wheaties box still graces the shelves of supermarkets across the world. You can also purchase Wheaties from online retailers such as Amazon and have them delivered to your door.

Famous Wheaties Cereal Commercials

Wheaties has one of the most prolific commercial histories of any cereal brand. The first occurred in 1926 when a barbershop quartet held the world’s first singing radio commercial with the memorable jingle “Have You Tried Wheaties?”

Many athletes have been associated with the Wheaties brand over the last hundred years.

Its first spokesperson was Olympic pole vaulter Bob Richards. Other prolific athletes to grace the famous whole wheat flakes cereal box include Bruce Jenner, Walter Payton, Chris Evert, Jesse Owens, and Michael Jordan. The first team depicted on the box was the 1987 World Champion Minnesota Twins.

The brand has celebrated American sports history over the year, with its commercial history acting as a timeline for the biggest names in sport over the years. Its most famous TV commercials have featured Bruce Jenner, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods.

The first woman to be featured on the Wheaties box was aviator Elinor Smith, and the first African-American athlete to become an ambassador for the brand was track and field star Jesse Owens who appeared on the box in 1936.

Other important moments in Wheaties commercial history include when the first non-orange Wheaties box was released in the year 1932; it changed its colors to red and black to honor the Chicago Bulls.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Waffle Crisp cereal is a much-beloved delicious cereal that many of us enjoyed as children. Waffle Crisp is a budget-friendly breakfast cereal that’s a great option for those seeking a delightful breakfast treat for the whole family without the hefty price tag that high-brand products come with.

In 2018, the manufacturer, Post, discontinued the product. However, you might have heard that in 2021 they announced it would be returning to shelves and in stock for customers to enjoy once again— promising the same great taste you’ll remember from crunching your way through a bowl before school.

This hearty cereal features tasty checkered, maple-flavored pieces. The texture and smell of this cereal made it a huge hit with kids all over the country. The fact that the flavor recalls the taste of home-cooked waffles is just another nostalgia-inducing bonus!

Although its color and the fact that it contains no high fructose corn syrup might fool some into thinking it’s healthy, especially when compared with other artificially flavored and colored cereals like Lucky Charms or Fruit Loops, it isn’t quite as healthy as you might think.

That being said, it’s definitely not the worst cereal on the market either! In this article, we’ll delve into the nutritional features of Post Waffle Crisp cereal to give you the whole lowdown.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal Healthy?

On the box, this cereal refers to itself as “sweetened multi-grain cereal.” Right off the bat, the word “sweetened” doesn’t bode well. But, despite being artificially flavored, there’s still hope for all you Post Waffle Crisp fans out there!

One of the main reasons Post Waffle Crisp isn’t a particularly healthy cereal option is that it contains 15g of sugar per serving, which accounts for 30% of the daily recommended intake.

It also contains a range of other ingredients, including artificial flavor, caramel color, corn flour, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, and zinc oxide, which can be detrimental to our health when consumed too often.

Despite the unhealthy amount of sugar in this cereal, it does contain some healthy ingredients. These include whole-grain oat flour and a range of vitamins and minerals (see above) that benefit our bodies. Moreover, it doesn’t contain other calorific, unhealthy ingredients like invert sugar syrup or canola oil, present in many other kinds of breakfast cereal.

We wouldn’t recommend you eat this product for breakfast every day, but every once in a while, there’s no harm in enjoying a bowl of this delicious treat!

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal Gluten-Free?

No, it’s is not gluten-free as it contains wheat flour and whole grain oat flour, both of which contain gluten. This means that this cereal isn’t suitable for anyone following a gluten-free diet, and you’ll need to find other gluten-free breakfast options.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal Vegan?

Yes, this product is vegan as it doesn’t contain any animal-derived products such as dairy or gelatin in its ingredients list.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal Keto?

A single serving of this cereal contains 34g of carbs, which means it’s not suitable for anyone following a keto diet. The keto diet requires you to consume between 20-30 net grams of carbs per day, so a single serving of this cereal will put you over the daily required amount!

If you’re following a keto diet, you might want to consider alternatives like eggs and proteins or search for brands selling keto-friendly breakfast cereals that don’t contain high levels of sugar and carbs.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal High In Protein?

Containing just 4g of protein per serving, a box of this Post cereal isn’t high in protein. If you want an option that offers more protein, Post manufactures other cereals, including Bran Flakes and Great Grains, that include more protein in their ingredients.

Is Waffle Crisp Cereal High In Fiber?

Although Post Waffle Crisp consists of sweetened multi-grain cereal made with wheat and oat flour, it only contains 1g of dietary fiber. This means it’s not high in fiber, as it only accounts for 4% of the daily recommended intake.

Where You Can Buy Waffle Crisp Cereal

Famous Waffle Crisp Cereal Commercials

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqkQsq23DwA

The most famous Post Waffle Crisp commercial was released in 1996 and depicted a factory of grandmas making waffles which were then deposited into the cereal box in miniature form. While this is happening, the narrator states that Waffle Crisp was “just like Grandma’s homemade waffles!” It’s not something you’d see on TV nowadays, but it’s definitely iconic!

Post created a range of commercials following on from the same idea of the grandmas in the factory, which worked well to improve brand recognition around the product.

Change of waffle crisp recipe

August 10, 2023

Did you know that wheat flour is no longer part of waffle crisp formulation? It was nice that wheat would be removed, however kellogg’s eggo waffle cereal has whole wheat flour. Malt-o-meal now practices waffle crunch cereal.
