Is Count Chocula Cereal Healthy?

Although Count Chocula proudly claims to be made with whole grain, when you read the reverse of the box, it doesn’t appear to contain enough.

Grains, according to several studies, are said to help lower the risk of stroke and heart attack. Since these studies were released, numerous consumers have been jumping aboard what many refer to as the grain train.

Consumers often believe cereals and other foodstuffs to contain whole grain because of the clever labeling. Products are allowed to advertise items as whole grain or whole wheat, often displaying this proudly on the front of the box; however, this doesn’t necessarily mean the product contains whole grain.

This must be labeled in the ingredients list on the back of the packet as “whole-grain whole wheat.” Untreated or enriched wheat flours are not the same thing.

The positioning of “whole-grain” in the ingredients list is also important. This should sit at (or near) the top of the ingredients list. This determined how much is in the product – the lower down the list, the less there is.

As we can see from the ingredients list, Count Chocula contains whole grain corn.

Is Count Chocula Cereal Gluten-Free?

Unfortunately, for those wishing to stick to a gluten-free diet, Count Chocula cereal is not a feasible option as it is not gluten-free. All of the Monster Cereals feature whole wheat on their ingredient list.

Is Count Chocula Cereal Vegan?

Again, for those wishing to embrace Halloween traditions and veganism at the same time, Count Chocula cereal isn’t an option. The yummy treat contains gelatin which is made from animal sources.

Is Count Chocula Cereal Keto?

If you wish to follow (or are already following) a keto or ketogenic diet, it is important to watch your carbohydrate intake daily. This is when the body enters ketosis.

For the majority of people wishing to achieve the best results, this necessitates ingesting fewer than 50g net carbs every day.

From the nutrition facts, we can determine that this cereal contains over 20g carbs per portion. Add the high added sugar content to this, and you have a product that can’t be recommended for those trying to remain in ketosis.

Is Count Chocula Cereal High in Protein?

According to the details on the box, Count Chocula cereal has just one gram of protein per serving. Healthier options often boast closer to 10 grams of protein, which makes you feel fuller for longer.

Is Count Chocula Cereal High in Fiber?

This cereal, like Boo Berry and the other variants, doesn’t contain much fiber, which isn’t a great thing for those wishing to maintain a balanced, healthy lifestyle. A healthy breakfast cereal should contain at least three grams of fiber.

There are certain tips you can follow to up your fiber intake while enjoying this cereal, including:

  • Adding ground flax seeds to your cereal
  • Adding wheat bran or another high fiber cereal to your Count Chocula breakfast
  • Adding berries or other fresh fruit high in fiber.

Count Chocula Cereal Varieties

Follow-on products made to coincide with the Count Chocula cereal included candies and fruit rollups.

Count Chocula Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

Released in the 1970s, Count Chocula brand alternatives include Boo Berry, Franken Berry, and Fruit Brute. Both Boo Berry and Franken Berry have now been discontinued.

When both Franken Berry and Count Chocula were launched in March 1971, they were the only breakfast cereal on the market to contain chocolate and strawberry flavors.

Where You Can Buy Count Chocula Cereal

Taking inspiration from Count Dracula and celebrated horror films, Count Chocula, the seasonal, monster marshmallow-infused chocolatey breakfast cereal, is part of a set of three monster kinds of cereal.

The breakfast cereal brand General Mills produces all of them. This particular monsters variant has been around for almost 50 years. In October, close to Halloween, you can source this cereal in a variety of popular grocery stores across the country.

Famous Count Chocula Cereal Commercials

There are several famous Count Chocula ads worth knowing about. These include:

This 70s advert from Count Chocula monster cereals is one of the first to hit the screens.

Is Honey Ohs! Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Honey Ohs! (previously Oh’s!, Oh!s, or Honey Graham Oh!s)) come in the shape of a breakfast product originally introduced to the market by the Quaker brand despite now being manufactured by Post cereals. This change took effect in August 2014.

The original Ohs breakfast was first introduced in 1980 in two variants: ‘Honey Nut’ and ‘Crunchy Graham,’ which were later renamed ‘Crunchy Nut’ and ‘Honey Graham.’ These were later discontinued leaving only Honey Graham Ohs! available.

Quaker introduced several new flavors in 1989, comprising ‘Apple Cinnamon Ohs,’ ‘Fruitangy Ohs’ and ‘Apple Ohs.’

In 2018, the Post Cereal brand reinvented the product, renaming it ‘Honey Oh’s.’ This included a box revamp and reformulation. The new product doesn’t contain brown sugar, coconut oil, graham flour, oats, or a handful of the other original ingredients.

Is Honey Ohs! Cereal Healthy?

Although they may have a great taste, Honey Oh’s are not the healthiest cereal on the market. If you’re looking to lose weight, it’s better to opt for a high-protein product without artificial colors – even if this is your favorite cereal.

Behind the pulverized corn flour in this product, you’ll mostly find molasses and sugar. To top this off, there are zero redeeming nutritional qualities in this food item.

Is Ohs! Cereal Gluten-Free?

By taking away the very small amounts of rye, wheat, and barley in this product, General Mills has successfully made all of their products gluten-free, including the most prevalent products, such as Original Cheerios, Honey Oh’s, and Honey Nut Cheerios.

Is Ohs! Cereal Vegan?

As this product contains real honey, it isn’t vegan and therefore isn’t an option for those looking to stick to a strict vegan diet. Its predecessors (Honey Graham Oh’s or Golden Honey o’s) equally weren’t suited to a vegan diet.

Is Honey Ohs! Cereal Keto?

If you wish to embark on a keto (or ketogenic) diet, it is important to limit your daily intake of carbohydrates so that your body is able to enter ketosis. For many on this diet plan, this means limiting yourself to fewer than 50 net carbs each day.

To calculate net carbs (these are per serving), simply subtract the fiber from the total amount of carbs.

Is Ohs! Cereal High in Protein?

The Ohs brand only contains 1gram of protein per serving; this amounts to just 2% of your daily allowance.

Is Ohs! Cereal High in Fiber?

There isn’t much fiber in this product at all, which is bad news for those looking for a high-fiber breakfast option! For best results choose a cereal that boasts a minimum of 3 grams of naturally occurring fiber.

Alternatively, add some additional natural fiber to your breakfast, such as wheat bran, flax seeds or fresh berries, or other fiber-rich fruits.

Honey Ohs! Cereal Varieties

In 1989, Quaker released a handful of other cereals boasting new flavors. In addition to Crunchy and Honey Graham Oh’s, these included:

  • Apple Cinnamon Oh’s
  • Fruitangy Oh’s
  • Apple Oh’s

While none of these variants are available today, many remember and reminisce about them as they were a popular option for the whole family back in the day.

Honey Ohs! Cereal Store-Brand Alternatives

Cheerios’ rings are one of the most prevalent alternatives to Ohs, although they’re slightly less dense and a little larger. They’re also enveloped in a glossy glaze, which ensures they stay crunchy long after milk has been added to the bowl.

All in all, they taste very similar to the original Honey Graham Oh; however, they aren’t the best cereal for those wishing to stick to a gluten-free diet.

Where You Can Buy Honey Ohs! Cereal

You can buy this item both online and at your local grocery store, such as Walmart. Simply look for the cereal aisle.

Famous Honey Ohs! Cereal Commercials

In the late 1980s, this cereal brand released a TV commercial complete with a catchy theme tune, which enticed listeners to indulge in Ohs due to them being filled in.

It doesn’t taste the same with nothing in the middle

Nothing in the middle

Nothing in the middle

So why eat a cereal with nothing in the middle

When there’s oh oh oh so much in the middle of Oh’s

You can view the original Oh’s advert here.

Another popular commercial featured the below theme tune, which can be viewed here:

There’s something in the middle of Oh’s Cereal that makes people say oh!

Ingredients

These are the following ingredients you’ll find in Quisp, Quaker’s crunchy corn cereal:

  • Whole-grain out flour
  • Corn flour
  • Sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Coconut oil
  • Salt
  • Reduced iron
  • Tocopherols (this is what keeps the cereal fresh for a reasonable amount of time)
  • Niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3)
  • Thiamine mononitrate (a form of vitamin B1)
  • Pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6)
  • Riboflavin
  • Folic acid

Is Quisp Cereal Healthy?

Quisp is known for being a delicious cereal rather than a healthy cereal. A healthy cereal generally has about 10 grams of protein, whereas Quisp only has two grams. A single serving of Quisp contains 12 grams of sugar, so nearly half of the cereal is sugar.

Quisp also contains 310 mg of sodium, and the less sodium a cereal has, the better. You should look for cereals with less than 140 mg in a serving, so according to these stats, Quisp is not the healthiest choice.

Is Quisp Cereal Gluten-Free?

Quisp does not contain any wheat ingredients in it. However, gluten could still be in the cereal due to cross-contamination. If the facility where Quisp is made produces products that have gluten in them, then there will likely be traces of it in Quisp. So Quisp doesn’t contain any ingredients with gluten, but it may not be 100% gluten-free.

If you are looking for a gluten-free option, then Cheerios is an excellent choice!

Is Quisp Cereal Vegan?

Quisp cereal is vegan friendly if we look at the main list of ingredients as it does not contain any animal products.

Is Quisp Cereal Keto?

The cereal does fall within the keto diet guidelines as it contains about 25 grams of carbohydrates. But under a keto diet, most sources say that you should be eating less than 50g of carbohydrates a day.

So you should consider what else you’ve eaten that day or what you are going to eat. Quisp makes up for half of your allowed carb intake for the day and won’t leave room for much more.

Is Quisp Cereal High in Protein?

Cereal generally has about 2.4 grams of protein in one cup. Whereas Quisp cereal only has one gram of protein in a cup, this is generally lower than most other cereals. So no, Quisp cereal is not very high in protein.

If you want a high-protein cereal, we suggest Bran Flakes (11g of protein per serving).

Is Quisp Cereal High in Fiber?

According to nutritionists, for a cereal to be considered high in fiber, it should contain 5 grams or more per serving. Quisp cereal only has about one gram of fiber per serving, making it relatively lower than what is recommended.

The Institute of Medicine states that women need about 25 grams of fiber daily, and men need about 38 grams. So if you want to meet the daily requirements, we suggest Nature’s Path Organic Smart bran or FiberOne Original. They contain 10 grams and 14 grams of fiber, respectively.

Quisp Cereal Varieties

There are no varieties, but there have been in the past. But Quaker Oats released a sister cereal called Quake cereal. The cereal came in the shape of small gears and had the same great taste as Quisp. It was discontinued in 1972 as Quisp won the vote as the best cereal between the two.

Quake cereal also released Quangaroos, an orange-flavored cereal. However, it also got discontinued in 1976. People still seemed to prefer the original saucer-shaped Quisp cereal they came to love!

Quisp Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

Quisp cereal has a taste similar to Cap’n Crunch and is the closest alternative. Some other options include Corn Chex, Corn Flakes, or Corn Pops.

Where You Can Buy Quisp Cereal

You can buy Quisp cereal from various retail giants like Walmart– you’ll find it in the cereal aisle alongside the likes of Cap’n Crunch. It is also available on Amazon and from the Quaker official website if you can’t find it in your local grocery store.

Famous Quisp Cereal Commercials

The Quaker Oats Company had some iconic and memorable commercials. When they released Quake, Quisps rival, they had various commercials for the battle of the breakfast bowls, and kids had to pick their favorite. One commercial was called “Save Little Nell from the ravenous wolves,” and it came out in the 1960s.

Quake had big biceps, a cape, and yellow hair, and Quisp came from outer space in a spaceship. The two of them would try to help any person in distress. In this particular commercial, they had to save Nell from the wolves. Nell had to choose which cereal she’d rather eat, ending with a cliffhanger. Kids had to watch the commercial to find out which one won!

Is Golden Grahams Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Golden Grahams cereal was first introduced in 1976 by the General Mills cereal company. These toasted square-shaped pieces are made from whole grain wheat flour, corn, and other ingredients, and are fortified with minerals and vitamins such as iron and zinc.

Golden Grahams have long been one of the most popular breakfast cereals, thanks to their mixed taste of honey and brown sugar.

The recipe used to create this cereal includes no artificial flavors, colors from artificial sources, or high fructose corn syrup. These facts lead many to believe that Golden Grahams are a healthy way to start the day – but this may not be the case. Let’s find out how healthy this cereal really is and which dietary requirements it is suitable for.

Ingredients

Golden Grahams Cereal’s list of ingredients and allergens includes:

  • Whole Grain Wheat
  • Corn Meal
  • Sugar
  • Canola Oil
  • Dextrose
  • Brown Sugar Syrup
  • Salt
  • Natural Flavor
  • Calcium Carbonate
  • Baking Soda

Is Golden Grahams Cereal Healthy?

The two main ingredients in Golden Grahams are whole grain wheat and corn meal, both of which are healthy additions to breakfast cereal. Whole grain wheat is a source of fiber and helps to reduce the risk of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease.

Golden Grahams are also low in cholesterol and saturated fat and are a good source of B vitamins, iron, and magnesium. It also doesn’t contain any artificial flavors.

However, the cereal is high in sugar and calories, so it cannot be considered to be a healthy cereal.

Is Golden Grahams Cereal Gluten-Free?

It is not gluten-free as it contains whole grain wheat flour. Unfortunately, General Mills doesn’t offer a gluten-free alternative to the cereal, which has led many to make their own instead.

Is Golden Grahams Cereal Vegan?

Golden Grahams are considered vegan to some, as they are not made using any dairy products. However, they do contain sugar and natural flavors, which could put some stricter vegans off the product. Plus, the retro edition of the product also contains honey, which is normally an ingredient that vegans avoid, being animal-derived.

Is Golden Grahams Cereal Keto?

Golden Grahams should not be consumed as part of a keto diet as they contain around 26 grams of carbohydrates per serving at least. This level of carbs would make it impossible to reach ketosis. Plus, the cereal also contains such ingredients as dextrose, sugar, and canola oil which those following a keto diet should avoid.

Is Golden Grahams Cereal High in Protein?

Golden Grahams are not high in protein, as they only contain 2 grams of protein per serving. Considering that men should aim to eat around 56 grams of protein per day, while women are recommended to aim for about 46 grams per day, Golden Grahams are not particularly helpful in reaching this target. Unless, of course, you get plenty of protein from your other daily meals.

If you’re looking to consume plenty of protein during breakfast time, you should consider such breakfast cereals as Magic Spoon, which contains as much as 13-14 grams of protein per serving at least.

Is Golden Grahams Cereal High in Fiber?

Golden Grahams is made with whole-grain wheat, which means that the cereal contains some level of fiber. However, there is only 2 grams of dietary fiber in a regular serving, which is a small amount relative to other cereals. This only amounts to around 6% of your recommended daily intake, which makes Golden Grahams a low fiber cereal.

Total dietary fiber for an adult should be between 25 and 30 grams per day.

Golden Grahams Cereal Varieties

There are not many varieties available of this cereal besides the Retro edition, which is made with honey. The cereal stopped featuring honey in the recipe back in 2012.

It’s also possible to get Golden Grahams S’mores Chocolate Marshmallow Breakfast Bars, which is a chewy bar alternative to the standard cereal, with the same distinct Golden Grahams taste.

Golden Grahams Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

There are a number of cereals that are similar to Golden Grahams on the market, including Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Chocolate Toast Crunch.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch also contains whole grain wheat but features rice flour instead of corn flour, so it has a slightly different taste to Golden Grahams. Although both contain similar vitamins and minerals, it could be argued that Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a slightly unhealthier option as it contains more calories.

Where You Can Buy Golden Grahams Cereal

You are able to purchase them online at Amazon as well as online or in-store at Walmart, Target, and other leading supermarkets.

Famous Golden Grahams Cereal Commercials

Golden Graham Cereal has been around for a long time and has produced many commercials promoting its brand. The tune of “Oh, Dem golden slippers,” written by James Bland, became the inspiration for the theme song for this sweet graham goodness cereal.

You can watch one of the classic commercials here, which shows a family enjoying the cereal’s delicious graham cracker taste after a busy day on the ranch.

You can be sure that there are no nasty preservatives in this cereal.

Three Wishes Cereal Varieties

There are four amazing varieties for you to choose from:

  • Honey – Honey flavored yet without a single drop of honey. Genius! Vegan-friendly ingredients include monk fruit, chickpea, natural flavors, pea protein, organic cane sugar, and tapioca.
  • Cocoa – Who doesn’t love chocolate? Made with real cocoa, this cereal gives you that creamy, dreamy chocolate flavor you crave. Aside from cocoa, ingredients include tapioca, pea protein, chickpea, natural flavors, organic cane sugar, monk fruit, and salt.
  • Unsweetened – If you’re sweet enough yourself, you might prefer this variety! There’s zero sugar in sight with this flavor. It contains four simple ingredients: salt, tapioca, pea protein, and chickpea. It stays crunchy even once you have added milk. Plus, as it is unsweetened, you can easily add fruit or other ingredients for your own unique concoction.
  • Cinnamon – A healthy twist on a classic cinnamon cereal favorite! Ingredients include monk fruit, salt, natural flavors, cinnamon, organic cane sugar, tapioca, pea protein, and chickpea.

Good cereal brand. I just would like to know what is the ‘natural flavor’ in the product?
