Corn pops cereal is made by the cereal giant Kellogg’s. Originally called Sugar Pops, the name was changed to Sugar Corn Pops in 1978, and then Corn Pops in 1984. Since the start, Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal – as well as some off-brand corn pops – has been an American breakfast staple and is still enjoyed today.
This yummy snack is made from milled corn, sugar, and corn syrup, which makes this easy-to-eat breakfast a favorite cereal choice of many.

Is Corn Pops Cereal Healthy?
Corn Pops are described by Kellogg’s as “sweetened corn cereal,” so you might assume it is not the healthiest breakfast cereal available. But that would be an incorrect assumption.
If you are eating Corn Pops cereal in moderation, you will be consuming key vitamins and minerals required for a healthy diet. It also provides a fair amount of fiber, however, it is lacking in protein.
Some might think that Kellogg’s Corn Pops taste terrible when eating just a bowl of them dry, and by adding milk, you are overcoming the lack of protein in the cereal, making for a nutritious breakfast.
The calories you eat at breakfast provide you with energy throughout the day (or at least until your next meal). It is recommended by experts that you get at least 100 calories with your breakfast, and by eating this cereal, you will be getting 120 calories per serving.
Although Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal contains added sugar, it does not have an unusually high sugar content when compared to other cereals. According to the US Department of Agriculture’s National Nutrient Database, Corn Pops is right in the middle out of more than 340 cereals.
Is Corn Pops Cereal Gluten-Free?
Sadly, Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal is not gluten-free. Corn Pops include wheat flour in the ingredient list, which contains gluten. Eating Pops isn’t an option for celiacs.
Is Corn Pops Cereal Vegan?
Generally, Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal is considered vegan since it does not contain any direct animal products like meat, dairy, or eggs.
There are some gray areas that may make staunch vegans hesitate to consume Corn Pops: the inclusion of vitamin D3 and added sugar.
Vitamin D3 is commonly extracted from lanolin, which is a wax that is secreted by the glands of woolly animals. Sugar is also not always considered vegan as it could be processed with bone char.
So is Corn Pops vegan? Yes and no – it contains no animal products; however, some of the ingredients could have been extracted from or processed by animal products.
Is Corn Pops Cereal Keto?
Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal is not considered keto because it is high in carbohydrates, sugar, and refined oils.
The keto diet recommends 20 – 30 grams of carbs per day, and Kellogg’s Corn Pops contain over 35 grams per serving.
It also contains high-glycemic sweeteners, like sugar and corn syrup, which is not considered keto-friendly.
Corn Pops have refined vegetable oil as an ingredient, which is not considered a healthy source of fat required for a keto diet.
Is Corn Pops Cereal High In Protein?
Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal is not very high in protein when eaten without milk. One serving of Corn Pops provides 1 gram of protein, which is below the recommended 2 or more grams of protein per serving for cereal. When served with 3/4 cup of skim milk, it can provide 8 grams of protein per serving.
Is Corn Pops Cereal High In Fiber?
Corn Pops are made from milled corn, which is not wholewheat and does not contain a lot of fiber. The cereal is fortified with fiber by adding soluble corn fiber. This means that one serving of Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal provides 2.5 grams of fiber. This is below the 3 – 5 grams recommended fiber content for cereal.
Where You Can Buy Corn Pops Cereal
You can buy Kellogg’s Corn Pops cereal at most grocery stores and retailers. It is stocked at most Walmarts, or you can buy it online at Amazon – if you’ve ever bought Corn Pops online, you’ll know how convenient it is! Famous Corn Pops Cereal Commercials
The 1999 Corn Pops commercial remains the most famous and well-known cereal commercial in the US. It featured “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul who is heard saying “gotta have my Pops” when his parents try to talk to him about being responsible.
Then there is the 2009 commercial, which displays the pieces of cereal as wild animals on the “Cerealgeti,” a clever wordplay on Serengeti. The Pops get eaten by the fearsome “Spoonaphant,” which is maintaining the “great cycle of this balanced breakfast.” The commercial ends with the “Spoonaphant” growling, “I want my Pops!”.

They have changed dramatically in taste recently.
Best cereal ever
I nut every time I eat a bowl of these. 10/10. The best cereal ever, and I WILL fight you if you disagree. I cream all in my pants the first bite I eat because they’re so good. I have used my cream as milk sometimes. It makes the taste even better. My girlfriend said she’s planning on leaving me if I don’t stop nutting in my cereal every morning, but that’s okay. I only need corn pops to be happy.
