Is Minecraft Cereal Healthy?

At this point, you might have noticed a striking resemblance between Kellogg’s Minecraft Creeper Crunch and another famous cereal; Lucky Charms. The latter is not known as a cereal that is marketed as a healthy breakfast option but instead is pitched to a child audience. The same goes for this cereal, which is aimed at young fans of the popular video game.

As such, Kellogg’s Minecraft Creeper Crunch is not a healthy cereal and is more a traditional, sweet breakfast that focuses on great taste instead of offering well-rounded nutritional benefits. Chances are, you’re buying it to satisfy the young Minecraft players in your home.

Is Minecraft Cereal Gluten-Free?

One of the main ingredients in this family cereal is whole wheat, and, as such, it is not gluten-free.

Is Minecraft Cereal Vegan?

Creeper Crunch contains gelatin, which is obtained from animal tendons and ligaments, and, as such, is not a vegan product. The actual cereal may be vegan; the gelatin is contained in the marshmallows.

However, the high sugar content is another issue of contention among vegans as cane sugar is often processed with bone char. Bone char is a decolorizing agent obtained from burning cattle bones.

While this is not specifically included in the recipe, it can be part of the process involved in refining cane sugar.

Is Minecraft Cereal Keto?

To be in an adequate state of ketosis, you must have consumed less than 20g of sugar, though ideally, you want to keep this number closer to 0g.

Provided you stick to the exact measurements on the box, a serving of this breakfast cereal contains 12g of sugar, leaving you with 8g left of your DV of sugar.

That being said, keto is not simply about avoiding sugar but also ensuring you take on plenty of healthy fat. Cereals are not a good source of these fats and generally are not ideal for keto. Instead, meat or dairy products would make a sensible breakfast while on a keto diet

Is Minecraft Cereal High in Protein?

With only 3g of protein in a serving, Kellogg’s Minecraft Creeper Crunch is not a solid protein source.

There’s no inclination given as to the amino acid profile to promote protein absorption either. Chances are if you’re buying this breakfast cereal, it isn’t in order to maximize protein intake.

Is Minecraft Cereal High in Fiber?

According to the FDA, for a food to qualify as ‘high fiber,’ it needs to contain a minimum of 5g of fiber.

A serving of this breakfast cereal has 4g and narrowly misses out on that category. While not technically a high fiber cereal, it’s a narrow enough miss for us to acknowledge that there is a decent level of fiber in this cinnamon-flavored cereal.

Minecraft Cereal Varieties

At this point, Kellogg’s Minecraft Creeper Crunch is only available in its original form, and it is likely that will remain the case.

Minecraft Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

The closest alternative breakfast cereal to Kellogg’s Minecraft Creeper Crunch is Lucky Charms. While the crushed oats in Lucky Charms aren’t flavored with cinnamon, the combination of wheat cereal and sweet marshmallows make them both dead ringers for each other and easily interchangeable when it comes to choosing your breakfast foods.

Where You Can buy Minecraft Cereal

These tasty treats are available to buy in any reputable store that sells breakfast foods at a suggested retail price of $4 for an 8oz box or $5.69 for a 12oz box.

This breakfast cereal is being marketed as a ‘limited time product,’ so whether good sales will affect how long it stays on store shelves depends on its success during its initial rollout period.

Famous Minecraft Cereal Commercials

Kellogg’s opted not to do any visual advertising for this cereal. We can assume that this is because they were relying on the enthusiasm and word-of-mouth that would be generated by game fanatics and the Minecraft community to be enough to help the cereal gain traction.

Is Total Cereal Healthy?

Total breakfast cereal is designed to be a healthy cereal and covers a lot of bases when you’re looking for a cereal to give you a well-rounded start to your day.

It contains 100% of your daily requirements of 12 vitamins and minerals. Total contains 100% of your daily iron intake to prevent iron deficiency. It also has 100% of your daily calcium values, as well as 25% of the daily vitamin D to promote healthy, strong bones.

The wholegrain wheat flakes in Total contain the full profile of the grain kernel and are a natural source of healthy fats, fiber, and minerals. Eating wholegrain is said to help protect against diabetes and colorectal cancer. Furthermore, reducing your intake of refined carbohydrates for whole grains can reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Is Total Cereal Gluten-Free?

Total’s grain flakes are made using wheat and are not suitable for a gluten-free diet.

Is Total Cereal Vegan?

Total contains no animal products and is suitable for those observing a vegan diet.

Totals grain flakes are also a good source of vitamin B12, which is very difficult to obtain unless eating meat products. So finding a fortified food that contains B12 is a great benefit for someone whose diet is restricted by veganism.

Is Total Cereal Keto?

Total, while being a healthy whole-grain option, is not suitable for a keto diet.

In order to remain in ketosis, people have to consume less than 20g of sugar a day, though ideally closer to 0g. Total contains 25g of carbohydrates in a serving, so one bowl would be enough to take you out of ketosis.

Further to this, Total has a negligible fat content, and taking on high quantities of fat throughout the day is integral to reaching a healthy ketone level.

Is Total Cereal High in Protein?

Total is not very high in protein, with only 2 grams of protein per serving. They once had a high protein version, but this has been discontinued.

Is Total Cereal High in Fiber?

A standard cereal will contain between 1-2 grams of fiber in a serving.

Total sits only a little higher on this scale at 3g, offering 12% of your daily value.

The FDA requires a minimum of 5g of fiber for them to consider food to be high fiber and Total while being full of goodness, just misses out on being a high fiber cereal.

Total Cereal Varieties

Some people seeking to gain the health benefits of a whole-grain cereal might be put off by the lack of excitement and flavor of such a cereal.

Because of this, cereal companies are always looking for ways to make the healthy option more appealing to their customers.

Total comes in a selection of varieties to make your bowl of whole-grain flakes a more interesting and delicious snack.

These include:

  • Total Cranberry Crunch
  • Total Whole Grain
  • Total Cinnamon Crunch
  • Total Blueberry Pomegranate.

Total Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

If you’re looking for an off-brand cereal similar to Total, it’s important to look at the nutritional profile of Total and find something that matches, as this is what sets Total apart as a cereal.

Totals whole-grain flakes contain very low sugar, a medium-range of fiber, and 100% of a range of daily vitamins and minerals, so when you’re looking for an alternative cereal, it’s important to look for one with a similar nutritious profile.

Where You Can Buy Total Cereal

This family-favorite cereal should be available to buy in any reputable grocery store where cereals are sold.

Famous Total Cereal Commercials

When Total began its life, General Mills was very keen to push the cereal’s excellent nutritional profile. At the time, there was no other leading cereal that came that close to the vitamins and minerals contained in Total, and they used this selling point to market their cereal.

In this commercial, they draw attention to the fact that they place their nutritional values not just on the side of the box like other manufacturers, as is required, but also on the front to show buyers upfront that Total was the superior choice.

Being diabetic I have to watch what I eat all the time. Ceral is going to raise my blood sugar no matter which one I choose to eat. I have to look at the pros of eating cereal, especially during the summer months. Since I work overnight at a warehouse job I need enough carbs while I sleep but not too many where my blood sugar will get too high. I liked that I can have half a serving with soymilk and have enough carbs but neither too many nor not enough so I can sleep a good 5 hours before needing to get a drink of water and go back to sleep without my blood sugar being too low. In the summer I can have a quick bowl of cereal before going to work and Total is one of my cereal choices where I’ll have a full serving, I don’t have to worry about getting low blood sugar while at work before my first break.

Why add high fructose corn syrup?

August 10, 2023

As I recall, Total used to be sweetened by malt extract, a healthy alternative to HFCS or “corn syrup,” as it disingenuously reads on the label (naughty, naughty!). It was my favorite cereal, but it sure isn’t now. I REFUSE TO INGEST HFCS. Did you know it causes cancer, if it exists in any part of the body, to grow and become malignant? These are FACTS. I hadn’t eaten it in years because as an adult, I don’t drink milk. But I had a craving for Total, so I looked up its ingredients. Thank goodness I did. Won’t buy it until you change the formula.

Nutritional update

August 10, 2023

Total cereal no longer has 100% of your daily calcium. This came as a surprise to me as I thought I was getting my calcium. It turns out that the absorption of calcium is interfered with by whole grain so they quit putting in

the calcium but they did not make much noise about it at least not as much noise as they did when they wanted to let us know that they had 100% of your daily calcium. So for 6 years I have not been getting my calcium. I now take a calcium supplement a couple of hours away from the time that I eat my Total cereal. I love my Total cereal I have been eating it for 30 years.

Is Grain Berry Cereal Healthy?

The six varieties of Grain Berry bran flakes offer a range of health benefits.

The genetically modified onyx sorghum grain blends a strong combination of powerful antioxidants to combat harmful free radicals in your body. These dark ‘tannin antioxidants’ give the grain a dark color, like red wine, blueberries, and dark chocolate. However, unlike these other high antioxidant foods, which contain high sugar levels, sorghum has a very clean sugar profile.

Sorghum has a much more balanced sugar profile than most breakfast cereals. High in complex sugars, the Grain Berry bran flakes are broken down over a much longer period, leaving you feeling full while your body takes its time metabolizing them into useful energy.

This healthy start to your day helps with sugar control without sacrificing the great taste you want from your breakfast cereal.

Is Grain Berry Cereal Gluten-Free?

Unfortunately, due to the whole grains in Grain Berry, it is not suitable for celiacs or those observing a gluten-free diet.

Is Grain Berry Cereal Vegan?

Grain Berry contains no animal products and is suitable for those observing plant-based, cruelty-free diets.

Is Grain Berry Cereal Keto?

In order to encourage your body into a state of ketosis, the keto diet requires you to dramatically reduce your carb and sugar intake and try to rely solely on your fat intake for energy. This results in your body producing ketones which some people argue are a much healthier form of energy.

Grain Berry is not suitable for a keto diet as it contains a very high carb content of 38g per serving. Although these are healthy sugars, you must keep your daily carb intake below 20g to achieve ketosis, so a bowl of Grain Berry would prevent this.

Further to that, it is very low in fat, which is necessary for ketosis.

Is Grain Berry Cereal High in Protein?

A bowl of Grain Berry contains 4g of protein which is 8% of your daily intake.

While not a massive amount of protein and not necessarily high in protein, when taken into account against the rest of its solid nutritional profile, this is another reason why Grain Berry is a healthy choice in the morning.

Is Grain Berry Cereal High in Fiber?

Onyx sorghum, the wonder plant used to make the Grain Berry bran flakes, is a natural superfood when it comes to fiber.

The fiber produced by this plant makes up 10% of a single bowl of Grain Berry. The FDA recommends that food contains 5% of your daily fiber to be considered high fiber, a box this cereal ticks nicely.

Foods rich in fiber are useful for flushing out cholesterol as well as the healthy digestion of sugar and preventing bloating and cramping.

Grain Berry Cereal Varieties

The six varieties of Grain Berry are all made with sorghum, and all boast sugar levels far lower than other leading brands:

  • Grain Berry Honey Nut – The whole grain oats in this cereal contain 33% less sugar than competitors.
  • Grain Berry Apple Cinnamon – This variety is 40% lower in sugar than other brands.
  • Grain Berry Original Toasted Oats – Rich in the soluble fiber beta-glucan.
  • Grain Berry Bran Flakes – This variety is mixed with blueberries and contains 70% less sugar and 40% less added salt than Raisin Bran.
  • Grain Berry Shredded Wheat – The cleanest variety with zero sugar and salt.
  • Grain Berry Cinnamon Shredded Wheat – The cinnamon adds a warm heat to this zero salt and sugar option.

If cereal isn’t your thing, Grain Berry sells their onyx sorghum wonder plant as a great fiber top-up for your morning smoothie, something lots of smoothies need an extra boost of. The brand also sells fiber and antioxidant-rich pasta.

Grain Berry Cereal Store Brand Alternatives

While there are similar high fiber bran alternatives to Grain Berry, they will not be made with onyx sorghum and won’t have the same sort of healthy profile.

If you are looking for an alternative, though, you might like to try:

  • Weetabix
  • Raisin Bran
  • Kashi Heart to Heart Honey Toasted Oat Cereal
  • Love Grown Berry Polar Puffs.

All of the above oat cereals are made with healthy grains that are naturally low in sugar without sacrificing taste.

Where You Can Buy Grain Berry Cereal

You can buy Grain Berry at your local grocery store or health food supermarket. Silver Palate also stocks the cereal so you can buy it online and have it delivered anywhere in the country.

Famous Grain Berry Cereal Commercials

Grain Berry does not have any famous commercials, but you can listen to the catchy jingle used to promote the cereal here.

I eat this cereal, it has a good taste. However, the labeling is a bit misleading to me. If you look at the list of ingredients, the sorghum is listed after the sugar. If I understand these listings correctly then there is less sorghum than sugar. So I am thnking there is not very much sorghum in the product at all.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Cap’n Crunch was first produced by the Quaker Oats Company in 1963 and since then has remained one of the most popular and beloved cereal brands in the States.

The lightly sweetened corn oats are coated with a sweet oil to evoke the taste of brown sugar over rice. The syrup makes this cereal stay crunchy in milk, and it’s this crunchy, sweet popcorn texture and moreish flavor that has given it its fame, making it a breakfast favorite ever since.

If you haven’t tried Original Cap’n Crunch, the gold color and sweet taste of the UK’s Golden Nuggets cereal is a dead ringer for this cereal.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal Healthy?

In short, no. Cap’n Crunch is made specifically to be a sweet breakfast cereal and, as such, should not be eaten as a healthy snack.

Cap’n Crunch uses the old trick of making the serving sizes on their boxes smaller than other cereals to make the reduced nutritional values appear more alike to Cornflakes or Cheerios.

16g of sugar in each serving is only 9g off your full daily serving of sugar for the day, meaning just a little extra in your bowl and one serving of Cap’n Crunch has just taken up your full allowance of sugar for the day!

It’s recommended to consume less than 10g of sugar for your breakfast to hit that sweet spot without essentially starting your day with a bowl of candy. The high sugar is also unsatisfying in the long run and can lead to a sugar crash shortly after, leaving you open to wanting a second bowl or something else sweet to make up for the drop-off in energy.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal Gluten-Free?

Cap’n Crunch is an oat cereal – it is made with oat flour which, although gluten-free, may have been processed alongside gluten-containing ingredients. So, this cereal is not suitable for celiacs or people observing a gluten-free diet, unless your sensitivity is minor.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal Vegan?

Cap’n Crunch contains no explicit animal products, so it’s suitable for a vegan diet. However, certain ingredients would put up red flags for more stringent vegans observing a cruelty-free diet.

The decolorizing of cane sugar involves an ingredient called bone char, which is made from ground and roasted cattle bones. While it’s not definite that your bowl will contain sugar that was colored with bone char, the fact that cereals acquire their sugar from different locations means it’s a possibility.

Further to this, the palm oil in Cap’n Crunch is an unfortunate source of deforestation in Asia, America, and Africa. Its production requires huge swathes of land to be cleared to make space for palm trees, leading to the destruction of animal habitats, causing widespread death among animal populations. So while technically a plant product, the means of getting it is strictly against vegan principles.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal Keto?

Cap#n Crunch is much too high in sugar and too low in healthy fat to encourage ketosis in the body.

The high sugar count of 16g in one 3/4 cup is only 4g left than the recommended 20g of sugar DV on a keto diet and will go a long way towards stopping your body from producing ketones.

Further to this, the very low fat content is not desirable for a keto diet. Anyone trying to do keto properly needs to significantly up their daily fat intake, and Cap’n Crunch is not a good snack to do it with.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal High in Protein?

At only 1.6g of protein, this sweet cereal is typically low in protein.

Is Cap’n Crunch Cereal High in Fiber?

The FDA says that foods must contain 5g of fiber to be considered ‘high fiber’.

This oat cereal is very low in fiber, even by guilty pleasure cereal standards, with one serving containing only 0.9g of fiber.

Cap’n Crunch Cereal Varieties

Crunch Berries Cereal

Cap’n Crunch’s Oops, All Berries

This was a time when the character who was the mascot for the brand, in this case, Captain Crunch, was fully fleshed out as a cartoon character used to capture the hearts and minds of kids and families.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal Healthy? Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

General Mills Lucky Charms is one of America’s most beloved cereal brands. The timeless combination of toasted wholegrain oats and sweet marshmallow pieces has been imitated by many other brands, but Lucky Charms did it first back in 1964.

The brand’s leprechaun mascot, Lucky, is instantly recognizable. Lucky for us, he hasn’t succeeded in his quest to keep our hands off his delicious magical charms!

Is Lucky Charms Cereal Healthy?

Although the whole grain pieces in Lucky Charms contain two grams of fiber per serving, this health benefit is massively outweighed by the negatives of those sweet, brightly colored marshmallows.

A single serving of Lucky Charms contains just under half your RDA of sugar. So just a little extra than the serving size on the box, and you’ll have had half your sugar intake for the day in one bowl!

Further to this, the dyes used to color the marshmallows have been linked to cancer, as well as allergies and behavioral issues in children.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal Gluten-Free?

Lucky Charms is a gluten-free cereal.

It is made with oats which are gluten-free but can be mixed accidentally with rye or wheat.

For this reason, General Mills goes to great lengths to ensure that they sift the wheat and rye from their oats to keep Lucky Charms gluten-free.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal Vegan?

Thanks to the marshmallows, Lucky Charms are not vegan. They are made with gelatin and are therefore not suitable for a vegan diet. Gelatin is a collection of animal materials processed into a clear ingredient that is used as part of the setting process to help bind the marshmallows and is a common ingredient in a lot of sweet foods.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal Keto?

Lucky Charms are not suitable for keto for two major reasons.

Firstly, the high sugar in a serving content will prevent your body from reaching ketosis, the state in which your body begins using ketones for energy. The recommended amount of sugar on a keto diet is as close to 0g as you can get, with around 20g being the maximum. For this reason, sweet cereals like this are best avoided on a keto diet.

Furthermore, the fat content is insufficient. Keto requires a high amount of healthy fat to encourage ketones, and the 1.8g in Lucky Charms doesn’t cut it.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal High In Protein?

Lucky Charms only offers 2.7g of protein in a serving and is therefore not a high-protein food.

Is Lucky Charms Cereal High In Fiber?

The FDA states that food with over 5g of fiber counts as a high fiber food. With only 1.8g, Lucky Charms is very low in fiber and doesn’t meet the FDA standards.

Lucky Charms Cereal Varieties

Lucky Charms don’t rely solely on their original beloved breakfast cereal to get their world-famous taste out there.

They know their fans have a sweet tooth and have released a range of flavors and styles of food to make the start, or the end, of the day magically delicious!

Chocolate

A chocolatey twist on Original Lucky Charms with tasty chocolate flavored oat pieces.

Fruity

Fruity Lucky Charms are made with sweetened fruity corn cereal instead of whole-grain pieces. It also includes three new unicorn marshmallows for the marshmallow completists out there!

This sweet juicy flavor is also gluten-free due to it being made with corn flour.

Frozen Dairy Dessert

Who needs cereal when you’ve got ice cream?

This mixture of frozen dairy dessert with a swirl of cereal and lucky charms marshmallows is the ultimate after-dinner tribute to your favorite cereal.

Further to this, it’s made with light ice cream and is lower in fat and calories than regular ice cream.

Marshmallows

There’s something magic about those marshmallows that make adults and kids alike love them. So it makes sense that you’re able to skip out the cereal and just get a bag of fun marshmallow goodness. These bags can be small or huge and can be bought officially or from other cereal traders.

No more sifting through toasted oats to find your favorite one!

Honey Clovers

This version takes the original mixture and tosses in crunchy honey-flavored cereal pieces, adding a new honey-sweetness to the classic formula.

Instant Oatmeal

Start your day with a warm, energizing bowl of oatmeal, and don’t forget to sprinkle the packet of marshmallows over your warm breakfast cereal for a little extra fun.

Marshmallows Clusters

Jumbo, crunchy clusters of puffed rice take the place of oats in this take on Lucky Charms.

These big, cloud-shaped puffs are like giant Rice Krispies, only with more crunch and marshmallow flavor.

Swiss Miss

This winning team-up between Swiss Miss hot cocoa and real Lucky Charms marshmallows is a sweet, delicious way to warm up.

Where You Can Buy Lucky Charms Cereal

Lucky Charms is a nationwide brand and can be found anywhere that cereals are sold.

Famous Lucky Charms Cereal Commercials

The branding of Lucky Charms is one of the most successful attempts at branding by any cereal company and is one of the reasons they hold such a strong place in our hearts.

Lucky the Leprechaun is always trying to keep the hungry hands of kids off his magical Lucky Charms in the commercials, but he never seems to have any luck!

Lucky Charms contain bioengineered ingredients. That along with the high sugar content and the dyes make it very unhealthy.
